I Test Muse by Meta and Ask: Do They Need More of My Data?

I Test Muse by Meta and Ask: Do They Need More of My Data?

I urge caution about giving social media companies and large tech firms more of our personal information through their AI tools. I describe my experience with Muse by Meta, Gemini by Google, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok. I explain that AI agents can serve as virtual assistants but require clear permissions and regular oversight. I recommend using AI for tasks like scheduling, social posts, and transcription while retaining control over important decisions. I advise checking AI outputs carefully and safeguarding personal data. I also offer help with legacy audio, podcasting, and voice production through Grey Hair Voices and Grey Hair Productions, and I invite listeners to contact me. I invite listeners to consider legacy and connection as I shift topics away from AI. I ask if you want to leave a legacy for children and grandchildren and suggest audio or video as simple ways to record life stories. I offer my services at Grey Hair Voices and Grey Hair Productions and give contact paths for help starting a podcast or preserving memories. I urge listeners to guide others who do not know podcasts by showing them how to use apps and devices. I encourage small acts of kindness such as smiling or greeting people who seem down, and I suggest these gestures can improve many days. I close by reminding listeners that I will continue the podcast, that this show is number 212, and that they can reach me through my websites or email to ask questions, seek help, or leave feedback.

Speaker A

Welcome to five Minutes with Grey Hair Dave.

Speaker A

He has gray hair and he has a gray beard and he also wears glasses like the guy in the artwork.

Speaker A

Oh, and the guy in the artwork is better looking now, tariff free.

Speaker A

Here is Grey Hair Dave.

Speaker B

Well, welcome back, folks.

Speaker B

Yes, that was 11Labs IO.

Speaker B

11Labs IO is a AI generation program where you can record your voice in it and it'll, it'll clone it for you if you want.

Speaker B

You can do like I did.

Speaker B

I gave it a text and it came up with the intro.

Speaker B

There's all kinds of new interesting things going over there at, at 11 Labs IO.

Speaker B

Check it out.

Speaker B

Go to the, the link in the show notes.

Speaker B

That is my affiliate link.

Speaker B

So if you do happen to sign up for it using my affiliate link, I will get a commission off of that, which might help fray or defray or it might help out with the costs that are involved here.

Speaker B

I appreciate that, folks.

Speaker B

Now, yes, I am back.

Speaker B

Yes, I missed last week.

Speaker B

There's a reason I missed last week.

Speaker B

I hurt my back.

Speaker B

I'm just getting old, I guess, you know, that's why I call myself Gray or day.

Speaker B

But I was in a great deal of pain and laying down a whole lot last week.

Speaker B

So my, my apologies for that.

Speaker B

I wanted to talk to you about AI a lot more today than we normally do.

Speaker B

I have been looking into a lot more of the AIs while I was on my back with my, you know, using my iPad and doing it that way.

Speaker B

And of course I came across Muse by Meta, M U S E by Meta, which is owned by, you know, Facebook.

Speaker B

And I downloaded it, I played with it for a little while and it's, it's quite interesting.

Speaker B

And, and I've got some thoughts about that.

Speaker B

And, and I wanted to get your opinions and, and, and let you know what I'm thinking about.

Speaker B

So when it comes to Muse by Meta, Gemini by Google, you've got Microsoft has theirs X or Twitter has Grok.

Speaker B

And I'm not sure who else in the social media world has made their own AI agents or AI projects for you to use.

Speaker B

I want you to think about this.

Speaker B

Do you want a lot of those companies knowing more about you or less?

Speaker B

Now I prefer for them too long less.

Speaker B

And here's the reasoning for that.

Speaker B

And there's, I'm saying that with a caveat because I'll tell you why in a second.

Speaker B

Google already has all my information.

Speaker B

They got my phone number, they got my email address, they got my email addresses because I've got three or four Google addresses.

Speaker B

So they already know a lot about me.

Speaker B

They really do.

Speaker B

So why would I want to give them more information about what the heck I'm doing and thinking?

Speaker B

Now, Meta with Muse I think could come in handy for scheduling and creating some social media posts for Instagram and Facebook.

Speaker B

For me, I think that's a distinct possibility which, which I'm going to look into this weekend.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

I mean, that's the only reason I can think of to use this is for media, social media posting and then the rest leave it alone or see what it comes up with and then send it over to my good friend Claude or open AI and let me get their opinions on it.

Speaker B

That's, that's my, my thinking right now on Muse by Meta again, do you really want them knowing more than they already know?

Speaker B

Now, I'm not asking you to stop using these.

Speaker B

I'm just wanting you to be informed by me on what my thoughts are.

Speaker B

Now, am I being a little braggadocious or whatever you want to use, whatever word you want to use or think that I'm all that, where I'm, I'm the all knowing and everything else.

Speaker B

I am nowhere near that, folks.

Speaker B

And I do not claim to be, don't want to be.

Speaker B

I'm just giving you my opinion as, as a, as an, a senior citizen and God, that's hard to say.

Speaker B

How about this?

Speaker B

As a veteran of life.

Speaker B

I'm not a senior citizen, I'm a veteran of life.

Speaker B

Oh man.

Speaker B

Well, that was a good one.

Speaker B

I like that.

Speaker B

Anyways, a veteran of life.

Speaker B

So anyways, it's just, it's my opinion and we know the saying, everybody has an opinion and sometimes they don't need to voice them.

Speaker B

I'm not being negative here.

Speaker B

I am sure that they are very good because I've used them.

Speaker B

I've used Grok a little bit.

Speaker B

I've used it.

Speaker B

Gemini Apple is using Gemini to help with its AI in Siri.

Speaker B

So I mean there are good uses for these things.

Speaker B

But in the news, of course, you keep hearing about they're going to take over this and take over that.

Speaker B

Well, you've got to give them your permission to do that.

Speaker B

I, I did a lot of research on, I was doing it last night when I got home too.

Speaker B

A lot of research on building agents.

Speaker B

Now agents will do the work for you.

Speaker B

You have to give it the parameters and the, you know, the permissions.

Speaker B

That makes sense, right?

Speaker B

It's like you're hiring an employee or you're, you're having a Virtual assistant.

Speaker B

So, and that's what I am trying to use Claude and OpenAI for is virtual assistants.

Speaker B

And I have considered working on making Claude into an agent.

Speaker B

And it's, it's an, it's a process that takes a little bit of time.

Speaker B

Unless of course you're, you're very knowledgeable in coding or not even encoding, I don't think.

Speaker B

But maybe a little bit.

Speaker B

You know, you've got to give it explicit parameters on what you want to do.

Speaker B

Oh yeah, by the way, Copilot is the name of Microsoft's AI and I've used Copilot.

Speaker B

Copilot's not bad.

Speaker B

It really isn't.

Speaker B

And I don't use a lot of Microsoft anymore except for Outlook because that's what I send my emails to for Gray Hair Productions and Gray Hair Voices.

Speaker B

And I also, because I am a veteran citizen, I still have a Yahoo email account.

Speaker B

But you know, that's what everybody has.

Speaker B

You know, there, there are people out there who still have an AOL account for their mail.

Speaker B

You know, if everybody knows that email address, sometimes it doesn't make sense to change.

Speaker B

Sometimes it does.

Speaker B

And so that's all I, I use these things for now.

Speaker B

I'm looking up interests for me and I'm having IT help me work, you know, AI help me work on Gray Hair Voices.

Speaker B

And it's done a fabulous job and I use Chat GPT a lot for changing photos or coming up with a.

Speaker B

And I'm going to do it today.

Speaker B

I'm going to have the Chat GPT come up with my artwork for today's podcast, which by the way is number 212.

Speaker B

Do you believe that?

Speaker B

212.

Speaker B

I started this over a couple of years ago and I'm enjoying it and it has evolved.

Speaker B

But anyways, back to AI for just one more minute or two as long as you are careful and understand and check what it does.

Speaker B

Because an AI agent will do the job for you and it'll go back and it'll check the job.

Speaker B

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't at least look at what they're doing and check on them too.

Speaker B

Just my opinion.

Speaker B

Don't let them run a willy nilly.

Speaker B

I am going to start an AI agent for Gray Hair Production so that they can help me out with Gray Hair Voices.

Speaker B

Helping me with a lot of things.

Speaker B

But I also don't want it to completely do everything for me.

Speaker B

And that's part of it too.

Speaker B

Do you want it doing everything for you?

Speaker B

I sure don't.

Speaker B

Little things that don't take long.

Speaker B

Do that yourself.

Speaker B

You know, an email, to write an email sometimes can be a, a process.

Speaker B

But most your emails are going to be short and quick, right?

Speaker B

Maybe they're not, but don't you want your words coming up?

Speaker B

Here's another thing I want to talk to you about, and it's kind of AI ish, and it really is.

Speaker B

And that's Whisper Light.

Speaker B

I own a Mac and that's what I use.

Speaker B

I've got, I got my Mac Mini, I got my MacBook Air, I got my iPad Pro, and I got my iPhone Pro Max.

Speaker B

So I, I'm into the ecosystem and, and I like that, but I'm not.

Speaker B

You know, if Whisper Light, you can just start recording, it'll give you a transcript and you can copy that transcript and put it right into your email.

Speaker B

You know, it's, it's things like that that you can do and take advantage of that instead of typing, typing, typing.

Speaker B

You or your, you know, if you're, you're a veteran citizen like me, you, maybe your, your wrists or your fingers will get tired.

Speaker B

This long email.

Speaker B

Or if you're writing a book, right?

Speaker B

If you're writing a book like my brother did, he wrote three of them and you don't want to.

Speaker B

You, your little, your little fingers are going to get tired after a while.

Speaker B

So there's that.

Speaker B

Okay, that's another one.

Speaker B

Okay, that's okay.

Speaker B

We're done with AI now.

Speaker B

We're going to change the subject.

Speaker B

So anyways, what else is going on in life with you folks?

Speaker B

I don't, you know, are you interested in making a podcast?

Speaker B

Are you interested in leaving a legacy?

Speaker B

Do you leave a legacy for your children, your grandchildren, your great grandchildren?

Speaker B

Tell them about your life.

Speaker B

Tell them how it was growing up for you when you were young, how it is in, in the working world when you were, when you were young, what you did for a living, the joys, the, the satisfactions, everything else.

Speaker B

Do that through audio and video or both together.

Speaker B

I can help you with that.

Speaker B

Get a hold of me at Gray Hair Voices dot com.

Speaker B

That's.

Speaker B

You can go to the website Gray Hair Voices dot com or email me at Dave at, at Gray Hair Voices dot com Also, folks, you can contact me at Gray Hair Productions if you're interested in starting a podcast.

Speaker B

Know someone who's starting a podcast or wants to start a podcast, needs help getting going or get.

Speaker B

Needs help editing?

Speaker B

I mean, I'm your guy.

Speaker B

Go togray hair productions dot com.

Speaker B

Leave me a note there.

Speaker B

Or you can go to my email.

Speaker B

David gray hair productions.com so I've got that part out.

Speaker B

Now here's something else I want you to think about today.

Speaker B

If you know somebody who doesn't know what a podcast is, doesn't know the genres, doesn't understand why I would use it, I want you to explain to them that it's become more popular than radio now.

Speaker B

People who are more veteran at being alive than I am may listen to AM radio a lot, get a lot of the same thing and a little bit different opinions.

Speaker B

So do this.

Speaker B

Take those folks by the hand, grab their phone, their iPad, their computer, if they have one, or even their smart TV and go to a podcast app.

Speaker B

Show them how to do this.

Speaker B

It's very important to everybody.

Speaker B

So there's that.

Speaker B

Next, I want you, when you're out and about this week, when you see somebody, whether that's a cashier or that's somebody seeing a parking lot who doesn't look happy, looks maybe a little down, smile, wave, maybe say, hi, how you doing?

Speaker B

Hope you're having a good day.

Speaker B

It will make their day, it will make your day and everybody will be happier.

Speaker B

Maybe if everybody does this, the world could be a better place.

Speaker B

So anyways, on behalf of Gray Hair Dave here in Gray Hair Productions and Gray Hair Voices Studios, I want you to have a great week.

Speaker B

I want you to have a great weekend.

Speaker B

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to go to five minutes with grayairdave.com and leave me a message from the website.

Speaker B

I will talk to you next week.

Speaker B

You all have a great time.

Speaker B

Bye.

Speaker B

Bye.
