A Milestone of Reflection: Celebrating Episode 199

The primary focus of this episode is the impending milestone of our 200th episode, which serves as a moment of reflection on the journey of the podcast thus far. I express my gratitude to the listeners for their unwavering support, which has significantly contributed to the growth of our audience. Throughout this discussion, I delve into the evolution of the podcast's content, highlighting the transition from a focus on personal anecdotes and historical reflections to a broader array of topics that resonate with our ever-changing world. Additionally, I share insights regarding my recent return to a regular job, detailing the challenges and adjustments I face in this new phase. The episode concludes with a call for listener engagement, inviting feedback and personal stories, thus fostering a sense of community among our audience. The discourse presented within this segment of the podcast delves into the evolution of the host's journey through nearly two hundred episodes. As we traverse the annals of time, from the inception of the podcast to its current iteration, I reflect upon the thematic metamorphosis that has transpired. Initially, the focus was predominantly on personal anecdotes and the broad tapestry of cultural phenomena that shaped my formative years. However, as the episodes progressed, a discernible shift occurred, steering the narrative towards a more introspective examination of contemporary issues and personal growth. This transition not only mirrors my own maturation but has also resonated with the audience, as indicated by the positive feedback and increasing engagement metrics. It is imperative to acknowledge the audience's pivotal role in this journey; their steadfast support has been a driving force behind the podcast's evolution. I express my sincere gratitude for their continued patronage and engagement, which has enabled this platform to flourish. Moreover, the podcast addresses the significance of local politics and its direct impact on daily life, contrasting with the often tumultuous global political landscape. I emphasize my belief that while global events are undeniably pertinent, the nuances of local governance and community welfare hold paramount importance. The dialogue reflects a nuanced understanding of the socio-political climate and its ramifications on the lives of individuals, particularly those navigating the complexities of everyday existence. In sharing my observations regarding the current socio-political climate, I aim to foster a sense of community and connection with my listeners, encouraging them to engage in meaningful discourse regarding local issues that affect their lives directly. In conclusion, this episode serves as both a reflective milestone and a clarion call for continued dialogue and engagement in community matters. I invite my listeners to participate actively, share their experiences, and contribute to the ongoing conversation. Together, we can cultivate a more informed and engaged community, one that is aware of the intricate interconnections between local and global events, and one that is committed to fostering positive change at all levels.

Speaker BOkay, that's enough of the advertising for now.
Speaker BSo I hope you're doing well.
Speaker BI wanted to let you know a couple of things.
Speaker BFirst of all, this is episode 199.
Speaker BNext week makes 200.
Speaker BYou believe that?
Speaker BThank you for being with me for all 200 of these.
Speaker B199.
Speaker BActually, I have enjoyed my time with you.
Speaker BI have gone back lately and not, not recently recently, but I have gone back a little while ago and I look to see or listen to see actually what I was talking about in the beginning as compared to what I'm talking about now.
Speaker BI know the theme of this is just Dave being Dave, but it's really changed.
Speaker BI started out talking about what was happening in, in the world as I was growing up and what was happening happening in music and my life as I was growing up as a child.
Speaker BAnd slowly but surely I weaned away from that because in the very, very beginning I was doing one a day, five days a week.
Speaker BAnd I think I did that for the first.
Speaker BOh geez, 50, I, I want to say at least 50 of them.
Speaker BI could check on that number, but I'm not going to because you could figure that out yourself.
Speaker BBut I, I, I was making that work.
Speaker BI really was.
Speaker BBut then I was running out of material.
Speaker BThe songs didn't change.
Speaker BWhat was number one didn't change.
Speaker BWhat had happened yesterday was the same as today, whether it was a different year or not.
Speaker BBecause I tried to change years as I, as I went along too.
Speaker BAnd I'm hoping you like what I'm doing now better.
Speaker BI have noticed my numbers have improved as I've gone on through this, which I'm happy as can be over that, folks.
Speaker BAnd that's all because of you.
Speaker BYou keep listening and downloading and that's what matters to Me.
Speaker BSo I hope you're enjoying the show.
Speaker BNow the next thing I wanted to talk about was I went back to my regular job this last week and you know, I had to go through three days of training, which I did and I, and the guy.
Speaker BActually there were two guys training me, me and this other girl and we had a lot of fun.
Speaker BWe, we learned the job and I go back tomorrow and I get checked off on a job to make sure that I can handle it.
Speaker BAnd then we will see how the foot holds up because as of right now, the foot's been holding up pretty good.
Speaker BYes, there's been pain at the end every day.
Speaker BYes, I'm walking just in the eight and a half hours I'm there.
Speaker BI'm averaging a mile and a half every day.
Speaker BSo you know, it's not something I'm used to.
Speaker BI'm going to take that into account.
Speaker BBut I do go to the doctor next week and he's going to ask me the all important question is how does it feel right now?
Speaker BFeels pretty good, but that's today and I haven't used it much in the past three days.
Speaker BSo you know, I get that first week.
Speaker BI get it.
Speaker BIt's going to be a little tough but you know, we're going to find out.
Speaker BWe're going to try real hard to make this work.
Speaker BSo that's, that's where I am at work.
Speaker BLet's move on to something else.
Speaker BAnd it's going on in the world and it's, it's gotten quite crazy overseas and I, and for those of you who are over in the Middle east area, I feel for you, I really, really do.
Speaker BI. I hope you stay well.
Speaker BI hope you stay safe.
Speaker BI'm a firm believer that politics for me is local.
Speaker BI understand you have to be worried about the, the world stage when it comes to politics but you know, more importantly is, is it going to affect or the people I know and love?
Speaker BYeah, I'm paying more for gas, you know, just them pay more for gas.
Speaker BEverybody over in the United States is.
Speaker BIt's come down a bit but you know, that's, that's about the only inconvenience I've had to deal with when it comes to that.
Speaker BLocally I'm pretty lucky where I live it's.
Speaker BPeople are pretty, pretty normal.
Speaker BI don't mean that in a bad way.
Speaker BOur government is more on the, let's take care of the people, let's not worry about the junk.
Speaker BYou know what I mean?
Speaker BLet's, it's not fight.
Speaker BLet's not do all this stuff.
Speaker BLet's make sure people have what they need and the services they need and let's go on.
Speaker BI do live in Florida, so some people don't like the fact that Florida laws are the way they are.
Speaker BBut it's fine with me.
Speaker BI'm not complaining about it and I'm really not.
Speaker BI don't really have a lot of complaints.
Speaker BYou know, I could complain today that it's really hot because right now it's 92 outside and if I look outside, yeah, it's hardly a breeze out there.
Speaker BBut, you know, we're also getting into the rainy afternoon season, so we'll see what happens.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BI do remember that I told you I was going to investigate Claude Cowork last week.
Speaker BWell, I did.
Speaker BAnd right now I'm paying for so many things.
Speaker BPaying for.
Speaker BI'm paying for Perplexity.
Speaker BI'm paying for Chat and all the other subscriptions that I have.
Speaker BAnd I just couldn't see trying Claude Code and going and paying for it monthly, which is, granted, it's not much, it's only $20.
Speaker BBut if I'm going to do that, I'm going to want to get rid of one of the other ones that I'm paying for because I have to be financially responsible to myself too.
Speaker BSo I did not try.
Speaker BFolks, I apologize.
Speaker BBut it's not that I don't have the $20.
Speaker BThat's not it.
Speaker BI don't want to overload myself on these things and then forget that.
Speaker BI don't either.
Speaker BA, don't like it.
Speaker BB, if I don't like it, I forget to get rid of the subscription or C, find out that I love it and I want to buy more, which is going to cost more.
Speaker BOne of their plans is like a hundred dollars a month and that's just for co work.
Speaker BThat's not for Claude Code.
Speaker BWill I do it?
Speaker BYeah, but I'm going to wait a couple weeks because Perplexity and Chat GPT just came out.
Speaker BSo I'm going to use the heck out of them for the rest of the month and then I'm going to get at it.
Speaker BSo update, Come on.
Speaker BThat I haven't really been, you know, because of that, I really haven't been playing too much with Chat GPT or clot.
Speaker BI am going to go in because I'm on the free version.
Speaker BI am going to go in today.
Speaker BI want to see how it does.
Speaker BI'm going to go through the same thing on Perplexity in chat.
Speaker BI mean in open, open AI chat, GPT.
Speaker BI'm going to use the same exact phrase.
Speaker BSo I want to see what it'll do to make me a brochure, a trifold brochure with information on both sides to see what it comes up with.
Speaker BNow I found one from a person that I work with who has on their side gig, as it were.
Speaker BThey had a nice brochure and it was jam packed full of pictures and information.
Speaker BI don't need that much for what I'm going to be doing with the Gray Hair Dave project.
Speaker BBut I do, I really do want to try and get one so that I can leave brochures at these, these communities I go to to say, hey, this is what, what's available for you besides just leaving a business card?
Speaker BYou know, a business card is nice, but it doesn't tell what we're going to do for you.
Speaker BWe're a brochure.
Speaker BOr if I can leave them, a flash drive with my commercial on it, which I haven't made yet.
Speaker BJust to say, well here, this is me, this is what we're doing and if you, if you're interested in it, please get a hold of either your community or get a hold of me personally.
Speaker BSo that's, that's the plan for this week and I'm also going to use Canva.
Speaker BI played with the book some more on Canva and I wasn't happy with it at all with the way I did it.
Speaker BSo I'm going to try again.
Speaker BIt the book is, the book is there, it's already written.
Speaker BI just didn't like the layout that I used.
Speaker BAnd as far as I'm concerned, if I'm just sending out a PDF, doesn't really matter what it looks like as long as it's a good looking PDF and it does look good, I think.
Speaker BDoes it have all the fancy stuff, all the, the pictures and all that other fancy stuff on it?
Speaker BNo, not right now.
Speaker BAnd I'm thinking to myself right as we're talking, do I need it?
Speaker BI don't know, maybe I don't.
Speaker BSo there's that.
Speaker BSo that's what's going on this week folks.
Speaker BWhat's going on in your life?

Speaker BDo you think it's viable?
Speaker BDo you think it's a good idea?
Speaker BI'd like some feedback.

Speaker BI'm sorry, but that's the way it works now.
Speaker BAm I going to sell your email address?
Speaker BNo, never would.
Speaker BNever ever would.
Speaker BI'm selfish.
Speaker BI want it for myself.
Speaker BI'm going to advertise something.
Speaker BI want to advertise it to somebody who knows me, who knows that, oh, this is coming from Great Hair Dave.
Speaker BOkay, I'll open it up.
Speaker BIt won't automatically go into the spam folder.
Speaker BYou know what I mean?
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BSerious about that.
Speaker BI just.
Speaker BYou have to put your email address in for everything nowadays, and it gets sold.
Speaker BI just want you to know I'm not going to do that.
Speaker BThe next thing is, are you interested in becoming a podcaster?
Speaker BDo you know somebody who's interested in becoming a podcaster?
Speaker BDo you have a hobby?
Speaker BIs there something you're interested in?
Speaker BSomething you're passionate about?
Speaker BA legacy maybe you want to leave for your family, friends?
Speaker BContact me at.
Speaker BContact me @gray hair productions.com and leave me a message.
Speaker BBecause I'll tell you what, I'm losing my brain here.
Speaker BI really, really.
Speaker BIt's okay.
Speaker BI'll be fine.
Speaker BYou know, so there's that.
Speaker BOkay, so I'll.
Speaker BYeah, I've completely lost track of where I'm going now.
Speaker BNext, folks, is I want you to.
Speaker BTo think about, is there somebody you know, somebody you know who doesn't know what a podcast is, doesn't know where to find one, don't know what genres are out there or.
Speaker BI'm sorry, genres.
Speaker BDo me a favor.
Speaker BShow them how.
Speaker BTake their phone, show them the podcast apps, and use me as the example.
Speaker BFive minutes of Gray Hair Day.
Speaker BShow them the example and say, here's how you find it.
Speaker BShow them how to subscribe or follow.
Speaker BYou know, you're going to.
Speaker BYou're going to help a lot of podcasters out and you're going to help me also, folks, while you're out and about today or this week, please receive somebody who may not be, who maybe is not having the best day of their life.
Speaker BSmile, wave, say Hi.
Speaker BIt might just cheer him up.
Speaker BSo on behalf of Gray Hair, Dave here and Gray Hair Productions, which today is my bedroom.
Speaker BYou all have a great weekend.
Speaker BI'll talk to you next week.
