Welcome to five minutes with Grey Haired Dave.
Speaker AHe has gray hair, has a gray beard, and wears glasses like the guy in the artwork.
Speaker AOh, and the guy in the artwork's better looking.
Speaker ANow here is gray Haired Dave.
Speaker BSo, folks, what did you think of 11 labs today?
Speaker BI like them.
Speaker BI think what they're doing over there is fantastic.
Speaker BYou should go check them out at elevenlabs IO.
Speaker BThey're doing great things over there and you should know what they are, especially if you're into anything creative like, let's just say, podcasting.
Speaker BGo look them up.
Speaker BI have an affiliate link there, so if you, you sign up under my name, which I, you know, is easy to do, you just follow the link in the show notes.
Speaker BI get a little bit out of it.
Speaker BAnd you all know that I could use a little bit of help every time I can.
Speaker BI mean, can't we all?
Speaker BSo how we doing, folks?
Speaker BBeen a few days since I talked with you.
Speaker BI didn't have much to say earlier in the week, but it's time now to come back and get things off my chest.
Speaker BThe weather's been better here in Florida, central Florida and around the country.
Speaker BI mean, it's, it's cooled a little bit.
Speaker BWe're, we've only just getting into the 90s this week.
Speaker BYou know, low 90s, high 80s, which is a nice change from the mid to high 90s.
Speaker BYou don't think about it till it's there.
Speaker BAnd, you know, it's still getting the afternoon rains.
Speaker BWell, that's what, that's what happens.
Speaker BI don't want to complain about work too much, but I didn't work this week yet.
Speaker BDon't think I'll work tomorrow.
Speaker BThis is what happens.
Speaker BYou go to the doctor on Monday and they don't schedule you the week because they know you've got restrictions that have ended.
Speaker BSo they don't know what they're going to do with you yet.
Speaker BAre you coming back or you're not coming back?
Speaker BSo the scheduler didn't schedule me.
Speaker BI understand that.
Speaker BI actually do.
Speaker BIt's hard to put a placeholder in there for going back.
Speaker BSo you're taking a cast member out of rotation who's a trainer, putting them on my shift with me.
Speaker BAnd if I have restrictions that don't allow me to go back to that department.
Speaker BWell, now you've moved all these people around for nothing.
Speaker BAnd you got to go back, you got to fix it, you got to call people.
Speaker BWell, that's all understandable.
Speaker BAnd I understand exactly why he did it.
Speaker BAnd I have no qualms with my scheduler.
Speaker BBut he didn't schedule me for next week yet because he didn't know what was going on.
Speaker BAnd the process has, for some reason, taken longer.
Speaker BMy doctor sends out the notes that day this week.
Speaker BIt took two days for.
Speaker BTo get.
Speaker BFor Disney to get it, acknowledge it, and then set the course in motion for what I'm going to be doing.
Speaker BNow.
Speaker BShe has upped my restrictions to where I can walk a little more, stand a little more.
Speaker BBut she goes, you're just not quite ready for prime time.
Speaker BMy words, not hers.
Speaker BBut, you know, I. I trust her.
Speaker BAnd she says, this is a process.
Speaker BSo now it's the process for me of getting back in touch with people again, saying, hey, this is what's going on.
Speaker BPlease look into this so that I can get back to work.
Speaker BI can't afford to be out of work for two weeks.
Speaker BAll right?
Speaker BI haven't started a Patreon yet, but I'm going to.
Speaker BAnd I'm not over here begging for money, folks.
Speaker BI don't want you to even consider the fact that that's going on.
Speaker BIt is not.
Speaker BI am not begging for money.
Speaker BI am not destitute.
Speaker BOkay?
Speaker BI don't want you to think that.
Speaker BSo with that being said, we'll see what happens, right?
Speaker BI'll let you know.
Speaker BYou know, I always do.
Speaker BWhat else is going on?
Speaker BLet's change the subject here.
Speaker BYou know what I'm going to change the subject to right here?
Speaker BA little drink of an adult beverage.
Speaker BAh, that.
Speaker BThat tastes good.
Speaker BNow, if you're wondering what does Dave drink in his alcoholic beverages?
Speaker BI'm sorry, his adult beverages.
Speaker BDave drinks beer.
Speaker BDave likes beer and likes the taste of the beer he likes.
Speaker BAnd, Graham, Dave has taste, but some people don't think so.
Speaker BSeriously, because I'm not a craft beer person.
Speaker BI've tried some and they're.
Speaker BThey're okay.
Speaker BIf I went out with some people and we were going to a place that has craft beer, and it's a situation where I don't want to have more than one or two, maybe three at the most, I might order a craft beer because it's going to take me longer to drink it because I'm not as fond of it.
Speaker BThat's like me also drinking a Diet Pepsi compared to Diet Coke or Coke Zero.
Speaker BI'm going to drink it slower because I'm not as fond of the taste.
Speaker BI don't hate it, but it's not what I like.
Speaker BIt's not my choice.
Speaker BSo that being said, I have a couple of choices and there's one that I stick with.
Speaker BAnd, and that's just the way it is.
Speaker BThat's the way it's going to be until I change my mind again.
Speaker BAnd I'm sure most people are that way.
Speaker BI mean, if you like a certain kind of coffee, you know, if you're, if you're a I go to Starbucks kind of a person as compared to, ah, just whatever's in the pot.
Speaker BI knew a guy back, back, back years ago and he would, he had a pot going all the time, pot of coffee.
Speaker BThis guy liked his coffee and he would dump it back into the.
Speaker BIf he, you know, if his coffee got warm or I mean cold in his cup, he would pour it back into the pot to warm it up.
Speaker BWeirdest thing I.
Speaker BBut you know, he didn't care.
Speaker BHe just.
Speaker BI just want coffee and that's the way it is.
Speaker BAnd you got along just fine, you know, but, you know, I, I'm not a fancy drink drinker.
Speaker BI don't do alcohol much, the occasional one.
Speaker BI'm not a. I don't do that.
Speaker BI don't go to the bars to do shots and stuff like that.
Speaker BI don't sit at home drinking, you know, liquor or, or whiskey or scotch or whatever.
Speaker BThat's not what I do.
Speaker BIt's not who I am.
Speaker BIt's also not what I prefer.
Speaker BNow I can sit here all night long drinking my beer, which I'm not gonna drink that many.
Speaker BI have a two or three tonight.
Speaker BAnd I'm happy.
Speaker BI'm not driving drunk.
Speaker BI'm not drunk for one.
Speaker BBut I'm happy.
Speaker BI'm at home, I'm safe, and everybody around me is safe because I'm not out in a car.
Speaker BOkay?
Speaker BI'll never go to a bar and have more than three.
Speaker BI'll tell you that right now.
Speaker BIf I am, somebody else will drive because I don't want to be that guy behind the wheel.
Speaker BI know you don't want to be either.
Speaker BI believe in drinking responsibly, just like I believe in smoking responsibly.
Speaker BI am not a smoker anymore.
Speaker BAnd you know the old saying, there's nothing worse than a reformed smoker or a reformed drinker.
Speaker BThey, you know, all you, it's all against it.
Speaker BI'm not against it.
Speaker BI just want you to be smart about it.
Speaker BDon't do it around kids.
Speaker BDon't do it in a car where there's kids or even other adults.
Speaker BIt's rude and if there's somebody walking by, you move away a little bit.
Speaker BIf you're outside, which I never.
Speaker BThe last time I smoked, for the last five, six, seven, eight years, I would always smoke outside.
Speaker BActually, longer than that, because, God, since I moved down to Florida, if I was going to smoke, I smoked outside.
Speaker BAnd that was 19 years ago.
Speaker BAnd I smoked outside because I didn't want the smell in the house, so I didn't smoke inside.
Speaker BNever had to worry about it.
Speaker BNever had, you know, never did either of my girlfriends at the times that I was there have to say, dave, I really don't want you to smoke in a house, because right up front, I said, I respect your home way too much.
Speaker BI don't smoke inside the house.
Speaker BI'm going to smoke outside.
Speaker BAnd if that means I'm standing outside in the rain, my problem, not yours, just go with it, okay?
Speaker BAnd they were both very good about it.
Speaker BBoth would come out and talk with me or chit and chat or sit around and whatever.
Speaker BBut no, I'm not going to smoke inside the house because then everything smells like cigarettes and, and, and even tastes like cigarettes, you know, not worth it to me.
Speaker BIt's not.
Speaker BBut I haven't had a cigarette since 19.
Speaker BI'm sorry, 2018.
Speaker BSo I think I'm doing okay without it.
Speaker BAll right, enough about cigarettes.
Speaker BSo that's what's going on today.
Speaker BWhat's happening down here?
Speaker BOh, we had two rocket launches in the last two days.
Speaker BThey were really early in the morning instead of late, late at night now, almost Starlink.
Speaker BI don't remember what the other one was about.
Speaker BProbably Starlinks satellites, which is cool.
Speaker BThey're putting a lot of Starlight satellites out there in the world.
Speaker BSo I don't know if you use Starlink.
Speaker BI looked into it, and it's not that expensive, not that cheap.
Speaker BBut anyway, I'm happy where I'm at with Spectrum, so I don't know what else I wanted to talk to you about today.
Speaker BLook, if you.
Speaker BIf you know somebody who doesn't know what a podcast is, doesn't know where to find it, doesn't know how to operate the system, as it were, doesn't know what genres are out there, where anything.
Speaker BShow me for.
Speaker BShow them for me.
Speaker BWill you please take the phone in your.
Speaker BIn your hands and show them a little bit, then help them by putting your hand in there and saying.
Speaker BOr their hand in there say, here's where you want to go for this and here's where you want to go for that.
Speaker BAnd if you want, you use me as the example.
Speaker BHere's how you find five minutes of gray here, Dave.
Speaker BListen to this guy.
Speaker BHe never goes five minutes, but it's usually never more than 12 or 13.
Speaker BShow them how.
Speaker BAlso, folks, if you're thinking about or know somebody who's thinking about starting a podcast, I want you to let them know about me.
Speaker BHave them come and listen to the show.
Speaker BHaven't listen with you if you want and have them get a hold of me over at either boomer podcasters.com you can get.
Speaker BGet a hold of me through the contact page or the microphone in the bottom right hand corner.
Speaker BOr you can go directly to Gray Hair Productions, which is what I do.
Speaker BI produce your edited video in a way you're gonna like.
Speaker BI'm gonna give you back time that it would have taken you to edit this.
Speaker BMost people, when they edit, especially when they're new and, and this was the case with me.
Speaker BIf I had a half an hour show that I had recorded, I recorded a half an hour.
Speaker BFirst pass is getting rid of the ums and ahs, right?
Speaker BAll the filler words, all the dead air, all the, you know, the pregnant pauses is what we call it.
Speaker BI come from an era where dead air is the same thing as a pregnant.
Speaker BPregnant pause.
Speaker BI get rid of all that for you.
Speaker BThen I go back and I start to adjust how you sound and room noise.
Speaker BGet rid of those noises in the back.
Speaker BI do those things for you so you don't have to.
Speaker BSo if you're editing a half an hour show me now, maybe takes me half hour, 45 minutes.
Speaker BProbably 45 minutes to an hour for a half an hour show.
Speaker BI'm getting better and better and better, and it's quicker and quicker.
Speaker BJust depends on what kind of show it is and, and how much I have to edit, you know, and if I've got.
Speaker BIt also depends how many people are on your podcast.
Speaker BSo, you know, it's, there's a, there's, there's some things involved there.
Speaker BBut do me a favor, let people know.
Speaker BGray Hair Productions.
Speaker BThat's what I do.
Speaker BBe glad to help anybody out.
Speaker BAlso, folks, I guess this is the last thing I usually say.
Speaker BIf you're out about today or tomorrow or this weekend, do me a favor, smile at somebody you don't know.
Speaker BYou'll make their day and they in turn will make yours.
Speaker BAnd I sincerely hope that I don't offend anybody, but.
Speaker BGo Chiefs.
Speaker BI am a Kansas City Chiefs fan and you're going to have to get used to that.
Speaker BSo go Chiefs.
Speaker BSo until next week, folks.
Speaker BI'll talk to you soon.
Speaker BYou all have a great day.
Speaker BBye.
Speaker BBye.
