Speaker A

Welcome to five Minutes with Gray Hair Dave.

Speaker A

He has gray hair and he has a gray beard and he also wears glasses like the guy in the artwork.

Speaker A

Oh, and the guy in the artwork is better looking now, tariff free.

Speaker A

Here is Gray Hair Dave.

Speaker B

So, hey folk, how are you?

Speaker B

Hope you're doing well.

Speaker B

Now the intro again was brought to you by elevenlabs IO.

Speaker B

If you liked what you heard or you were interested in learning more about it, there will be a link in the show notes.

Speaker B

That link will have my affiliates code attached to it.

Speaker B

So if you do go and you do decide to buy some of their product or get some of their product, I will get a an affiliate's paycheck for that and that'll help defray some of the cost of the podcaster.

Speaker B

So I hope you're doing well today.

Speaker B

I forgot to record yesterday, so I am sorry this is late, but I tried recording this morning.

Speaker B

You're gonna get a kick out of this.

Speaker B

So I was in the parking lot a little early when I went to work and I thought, well, I got my iPad here, you know, I got my new earbuds.

Speaker B

My AirPod.

Speaker B

No, my I, my Apple AirPods Pro 3.

Speaker B

Those, they're great.

Speaker B

They're really good.

Speaker B

So that, well, let's just record on, on my iPad through the Creative Studio.

Speaker B

I use the Logic Pro there.

Speaker B

So I set it all up.

Speaker B

I got my earbuds in.

Speaker B

I'm starting to record now.

Speaker B

I'm getting this echo back into my ears.

Speaker B

Now I can't turn down the volume on my ears on the earbuds because I've turned down the volume of the microphone on the earbuds too.

Speaker B

So I tried it a couple of times and it.

Speaker B

Honest folks, honest.

Speaker B

God, it was driving me bonkers.

Speaker B

I finally stopped it and I, I took my earbuds out, I hit go all the way to the beginning and started playing it and it even sounded weird.

Speaker B

So I did some research, found out that I had the settings all wrong.

Speaker B

I had the microphone was being used from the iPad and I was hearing it in the earbuds.

Speaker B

That didn't work very well for Dave.

Speaker B

So that's.

Speaker B

We're going to try that again one day soon, but we'll try doing it the proper way, you know, earpods to earpods.

Speaker B

Earpod microphone, earpods to here.

Speaker B

So that's what's been going on with this.

Speaker B

So we're going to change subjects now and get away from my mistakes and we're going to go over to project Gray Hair Dave or the Gray Hair Day project, either way you want to put it.

Speaker B

So last week I was doing really well, and, and I, I think I told you that I was going to have a book created, and I did.

Speaker B

I had a book created.

Speaker B

It's on how to podcast, especially for seniors.

Speaker B

It was made for seniors or boomers or whatever you want to call anybody over 55.

Speaker B

And it's actually could be used by anybody.

Speaker B

But I sent the file to Staples because as good as you can edit while you're either on your iPad or while you're on your computer, until you, for me, until I see it in print, I don't really see the big mistakes.

Speaker B

Plus, if I see it in print, then I can go back, highlight what I don't like or highlight what I need to change and what I want to move or this or that.

Speaker B

So I, I picked it up at Staples because I went to Staples for this because they could have it done for me the next day.

Speaker B

And they did.

Speaker B

In fact, they had it done the night I sent it to them.

Speaker B

But by the time I received that email, it was like 8:30.

Speaker B

Well, I don't live that close.

Speaker B

So I went the next day after work and I, I picked it up and I thought, well, you know what, Let me go over to.

Speaker B

There's a few restaurants across the street from this, this shopping center.

Speaker B

Let me over and have something to eat.

Speaker B

So I went over and went to Chili's, had a nice meal.

Speaker B

I really did.

Speaker B

It was a very nice meal, had good service.

Speaker B

And I pulled the book out and I looked at it and I'm gone.

Speaker B

You didn't do page breaks very well, Dave.

Speaker B

Thought processes.

Speaker B

Half and half on one page, you know, the other half on the other.

Speaker B

And I go, okay, now I got it.

Speaker B

And I thought, well, I really.

Speaker B

Now I had them spiral bind this.

Speaker B

It was kind of like, like a spiral notebook, you know, it was really well done.

Speaker B

It had a clear cover on it had a black cover on the back.

Speaker B

And I asked for his cardstock, so it's a thicker piece of paper, which I like.

Speaker B

So I was doing, going through all that.

Speaker B

And of course I forgot to bring a pen with me or a highlighter or anything.

Speaker B

But I'm looking at it and I'm going, wow, you really need to go back and look at the page breaks.

Speaker B

I didn't do the page breaks very well.

Speaker B

And that's my own fault for rushing it because I wanted to rush this out and get it to have it available.

Speaker B

So if I like it, boom, I could go and I can ask for 20 to be printed and they'd have them for me in a couple of days because the price really wasn't bad.

Speaker B

I mean, it was like 20 bucks.

Speaker B

It was like 19 and change for one.

Speaker B

But you know, the more you do, excuse me, the more you do, the less you pay.

Speaker B

Right?

Speaker B

So I'm going to.

Speaker B

I was working on it today and I worked on it a little bit, you know, this weekend.

Speaker B

I was going to work on it some more tonight because I'm not quite finished.

Speaker B

I've gotten everything to the page breaks right, I got them right.

Speaker B

But I'm not, still not happy with it.

Speaker B

So I want to add a few more lines where people can write stuff in and I want to make it look really nice so that it can be printed properly.

Speaker B

So I'm working on that.

Speaker B

So if that's something you're interested in learning about, let me know and I can send you a copy of the PDF.

Speaker B

And because you listen to the show, I might just send it to you for free.

Speaker B

Just go to five minutes with gray hair dave.com that's the number.

Speaker B

Five minutes with gray hairedave.com go to the Contact Me page.

Speaker B

Leave me a little note says, hey Dave, I'm interested in that, that PDF you were talking about about how to podcast.

Speaker B

Well, I'll send it to you now.

Speaker B

I'm also going to offer this PDF in and offer the book in PDF format also to part of the people who I'm going to be giving these to or selling these to.

Speaker B

So that's all part of it.

Speaker B

And that was part of the project was writing this book.

Speaker B

And because I used a lot of AI to help with my thoughts and I put stuff into AI about what I was thinking about doing, asked it for some thoughts.

Speaker B

It helped me, help me build a lot of the things I wanted to build and it was great for going out and finding things and bringing them back.

Speaker B

I've mentioned that last week, but I do want to say this.

Speaker B

I wanted to use it as an assistant, not as the main focus here.

Speaker B

I'm the main focus and what I'm doing is the main focus, not AI doing it the way I want to do it.

Speaker B

They help.

Speaker B

The AI helped me.

Speaker B

And again, I use Perplexity AI because I like Perplexity.

Speaker B

It does a very good job at what I'm looking for.

Speaker B

But I also went to Gemini on Google and use that to make me some, some documents.

Speaker B

Also I was looking for some Excel type documents with specific information and that information was going to come from Google Anyway, so why not use Google's AI to find.

Speaker B

Did a nice job.

Speaker B

Really, really did.

Speaker B

So there's, there's that.

Speaker B

And I found to use it as an assistant with was was relatively easy because it has learned a conversational way of going about things.

Speaker B

I ask it questions.

Speaker B

I don't just say create this and create that.

Speaker B

I'll ask it.

Speaker B

Well, what do you, you know, go ahead and look at what I've just what we've done so far.

Speaker B

What do you think should be the next move compared to what I already know I want to do next?

Speaker B

Because I want to see where it takes me and maybe it'll take me to something that I haven't seen yet.

Speaker B

It has done that a couple of times and very, very thankful that it did.

Speaker B

So using AI as part of your daily routine really shouldn't be that big a deal in today's world.

Speaker B

But I want you to think about it.

Speaker B

AI hasn't been around that long.

Speaker B

But look at all the AI models that are out there now.

Speaker B

There's a lot of them.

Speaker B

I know people who do use Chat GPT as a search engine.

Speaker B

Go right to it.

Speaker B

It's a great idea.

Speaker B

I really do.

Speaker B

There is a browser out there called Comet.

Speaker B

And when, if you open up Comet, it starts right out with Perplexity.

Speaker B

For me, that's what I've started.

Speaker B

Had it start its or as it's as its default browser is Perplexity.

Speaker B

But you can have it start up as ChatGPT or whoever you want.

Speaker B

And I like that.

Speaker B

It does a great job for me too.

Speaker B

So I've used that a lot.

Speaker B

But there's a few browsers out there like that.

Speaker B

You need to look into them.

Speaker B

I think that even for seniors and young people alike.

Speaker B

Now, if you're a young person listening to me, don't use this to do your homework.

Speaker B

You know, don't use AI to do your homework.

Speaker B

But if you're researching a project, it's there to help, right?

Speaker B

Just remember what you're referencing.

Speaker B

So that's what I wanted to talk about today.

Speaker B

I was also going to mention that if you are thinking about starting a podcast or you know somebody who's starting a podcast, tell them to go togray hair productions dot com.

Speaker B

That's G R E Y hair productions dot com.

Speaker B

Leave me a note in the contact me page, let me know that's what you're doing.

Speaker B

I've shut down Boomer Podcasters on as a website right now because I'm reworking that.

Speaker B

And so I've got two or three pots in the iron and Boomer Podcasters is going to be renamed and repurposed.

Speaker B

So I wanted.

Speaker B

It doesn't make sense to keep sending people there when I'm not really doing anything with it.

Speaker B

But let me know if you're interested.

Speaker B

I'm here to help.

Speaker B

I really am.

Speaker B

I'd be glad to help.

Speaker B

Also, folks, if you know somebody who doesn't know what a podcast is yet.

Speaker B

Now that those people may be far and few between, and I'm glad about that.

Speaker B

But do me a favor, take them by the hand and show them how to find one.

Speaker B

Open the app up for them.

Speaker B

Use 5 minutes of gray Hair Dave as the example.

Speaker B

Listen to this guy.

Speaker B

Show them how to follow or subscribe or whatever their app asks them to do.

Speaker B

And lastly, and I know that I say this every time, but it's so very, very true, when you're out and about, you see somebody you don't know and walking down the street or going into a grocery store or whatever it is you're doing, smile, wave, maybe even say hi, you're gonna make their day.

Speaker B

And it'll in turn turn around and make your day because it'll make you feel better too.

Speaker B

So on behalf of Gray Hair Dave here, Gray Hair Productions, I wish you a great week.

Speaker B

I'm glad you're here listening and I will talk to you next week.

Speaker B

Bye.
