Speaker A

Welcome to five Minutes with Gray Hair Dave.

Speaker A

He has gray hair.

Speaker A

He has a gray beard.

Speaker A

He wears glasses like the guy in the artwork.

Speaker A

Oh, and the guy in the artwork is better looking.

Speaker A

Now here is Gray Hair Dave.

Speaker B

So welcome back.

Speaker B

What did you think of ElevenLabs today?

Speaker B

11Labs IO.

Speaker B

ElevenLabs IO is my intro machine, as it were.

Speaker B

They're the ones I go to for the different voices.

Speaker B

All I do is type in what I want to say and then start choosing voices.

Speaker B

It's really kind of fun.

Speaker B

Really is.

Speaker B

So it's.

Speaker B

It's something I want you to go and look at.

Speaker B

It's called 11 e l e v e n l a b s dot IO and there's a link in the show notes.

Speaker B

If you go ahead and click on that, that's my affiliate link.

Speaker B

So if you decide to sign up with them through me, I get a little bit of a bump from that.

Speaker B

You know, I might be able to go buy myself a Diet Coke or something with that, which would be fun.

Speaker B

So again, that's 11 labs IO.

Speaker B

Also, folks, if you're in need of any kind of editing for your.

Speaker B

For your podcast, if you're a podcaster, go tograyhair productions.com and click on the Contact Me page.

Speaker B

And I'd be happy to help you out with that.

Speaker B

More about that towards the end, though.

Speaker B

So how have we been?

Speaker B

Well, I don't know about you, but I've been pretty good.

Speaker B

I just been sitting around and I've been working.

Speaker B

I've been learning new things.

Speaker B

I believe that learning new things is very, very important.

Speaker B

I really, really do.

Speaker B

I.

Speaker B

If it means to me that I'm keeping my brain active and my brain is moving around and.

Speaker B

And it's not as, oh, I don't know, sedimentary.

Speaker B

Sedimentary.

Speaker B

Not in.

Speaker B

Sitting in one position all the time.

Speaker B

How about that?

Speaker B

Sedimentary.

Speaker B

That's the word I think I'm looking for.

Speaker B

Anyways, sorry about that.

Speaker B

I just, I'm.

Speaker B

Some days I.

Speaker B

Some days the words are there and they just don't come out.

Speaker B

Now, is that preset adventure Alzheimer's?

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

All I know is I'm having a good day.

Speaker B

God.

Speaker B

I was doing something yesterday, folks, and this is.

Speaker B

This is.

Speaker B

And I'm not going to get real religious on you here, but I'm going to say this.

Speaker B

The power of prayer.

Speaker B

I did my normal prayers with God in the morning and had my chat with him and I was doing something yesterday afternoon and I hadn't even turned on.

Speaker B

I already wasn't even watching the Football games.

Speaker B

And all of a sudden, this big, huge smile came on my face.

Speaker B

I don't know why.

Speaker B

Maybe somebody was thinking about me.

Speaker B

I don't know what was going on, but I had to smile.

Speaker B

And I looked outside and I just thanked the Lord for, For giving me that smile.

Speaker B

I thought that that was.

Speaker B

That was something that you might want to hear about, something uplifting.

Speaker B

Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to change the subject.

Speaker B

And we're going to get on to what's happening quickly with me, and then we're going to move on.

Speaker B

So on the total weight loss, we're at about 20 pounds, almost 25.

Speaker B

I gained a pound back.

Speaker B

I know why.

Speaker B

I know exactly why.

Speaker B

Because I forgot to walk yesterday and the day before.

Speaker B

Not gonna do that today.

Speaker B

I'm gonna get it in there.

Speaker B

Got to get my exercise in.

Speaker B

I gotta stick with a plan.

Speaker B

I've been eating better.

Speaker B

I have.

Speaker B

I've been eating better, folks.

Speaker B

So I hope you're.

Speaker B

You're okay with that.

Speaker B

Now the next thing I wanted to talk to you about was just the desire to get out and move.

Speaker B

Now, that doesn't.

Speaker B

That is not something that just comes naturally to me.

Speaker B

It doesn't.

Speaker B

It just.

Speaker B

It used to years ago, when I was a young kid, I remember getting my bike and riding and riding and riding for hours and hours and had a great time with it.

Speaker B

But I got away from that, you know, when I started driving.

Speaker B

But I. I really missed it.

Speaker B

I used to play tennis all the time.

Speaker B

I really miss it.

Speaker B

And now with my knees or my foot or whatever, I don't think I'm ever going back to tennis.

Speaker B

Just saying, I'm not going back to tennis.

Speaker B

But, you know, that's what goes on.

Speaker B

So I got to start motivating myself.

Speaker B

So self motivation is not always easy.

Speaker B

And I know that you know that as well as I do.

Speaker B

It's not always easy to kick yourself in the rear and say, get out.

Speaker B

Go do something.

Speaker B

Get up, go do that.

Speaker B

Get up, go do this.

Speaker B

You know, there's too many easy distractions nowadays.

Speaker B

Television, music, friends, you know, social media.

Speaker B

This thing, this thing right here, this iPad, iPhone is the problem.

Speaker B

Some days can't get away from it.

Speaker B

Kids are on social media, parents are on social media.

Speaker B

They're checking their emails all the time.

Speaker B

They're checking their, their everything.

Speaker B

What's going, you know, checking their accounts, their banks account, bank accounts.

Speaker B

All these things are in their day now.

Speaker B

And it's all because of, of the Internet now.

Speaker B

I grew up without The Internet.

Speaker B

And I'm not trying to sell you on the fact that life was simpler then, though.

Speaker B

It was okay.

Speaker B

I'm not telling you that.

Speaker B

And this I'm sure all my friends of that age will agree with me on.

Speaker B

Time went slower.

Speaker B

Now, I realize when you age, time goes faster.

Speaker B

It just seems to move by quicker and quicker and quicker.

Speaker B

That little clock on your.

Speaker B

It just keeps going round, round, round, faster and faster.

Speaker B

And I don't know why, but it is part of life.

Speaker B

And maybe because you weren't stuck in, well, between this half hour and this half hour to watch tv, Right.

Speaker B

Well, that half hour goes by really fast that you're just sitting there watching tv.

Speaker B

But if you're out doing something, you're down, out and about, you know, downstairs with your friends or you're out talking or you're in a neighborhood, you're.

Speaker B

You're going for walks saying hi to your neighbors, or you're, you know, you're working in the yard, that time doesn't go by quite as fast now does it?

Speaker B

So how are you going to slow things down for me?

Speaker B

I'm going to take a cue from my older brother.

Speaker B

They're busy all the time.

Speaker B

And yeah, he has a wife to help motivate him.

Speaker B

And she's a.

Speaker B

Is a highly motivated person, don't get me wrong.

Speaker B

She likes to go, go, go, go, go.

Speaker B

And that's what keeps her young and that's what helps keep my brother young.

Speaker B

And I'm happy about that.

Speaker B

He's talked to him a couple.

Speaker B

Couple well early last week and doing great.

Speaker B

You know, knee problems are getting better.

Speaker B

Well, good for him.

Speaker B

He's moving around better.

Speaker B

It's.

Speaker B

Life is easier.

Speaker B

But that motivation that when you're alone to go do something is hard.

Speaker B

I'm not positive what I need to do and I'm not going to sit around and read a book about it.

Speaker B

I'll listen to a podcast about it.

Speaker B

I'll do something like that.

Speaker B

But I'll learn, but I need to learn how to get myself motivated.

Speaker B

Now, I have read in the past books by famous motivational people like Zig Ziglar and oh, goodness, there's, there's a bunch of them out there.

Speaker B

And yeah, they're great.

Speaker B

And do they, they work in today's time?

Speaker B

If you learn how to turn off the noise.

Speaker B

So anyways, finding that motivational way to get things done and get motivated and moving, I'm struggling with.

Speaker B

If you've got any ideas, leave me a message at five minutes with gray hair dave.com.

Speaker B

you can either do it with a voicemail, that little.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

That little purple microphone in the bottom right hand corner, or go to the comments section or contact me page and, and leave me a message that way.

Speaker B

I'd like to know what helps you get motivated during the day because I could use a little help.

Speaker B

You know, somebody kicked my.

Speaker B

My behind out the door.

Speaker B

So what else is going on now?

Speaker B

As you've noticed folks, I'm sitting here in my bedroom right now.

Speaker B

I've got an office in my bedroom.

Speaker B

It's easier that way now.

Speaker B

And it wasn't a big deal until I started doing video.

Speaker B

Now I do have a green screen and I want to change the cameras around and it's a really nice green screen.

Speaker B

It's one of those elgato ones and it's a really great one.

Speaker B

But I gotta play with it and get it right.

Speaker B

And I haven't, I haven't done that.

Speaker B

So you get to see my bedroom, but at least my bed is made.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

And we've got the logo up here, you know.

Speaker B

Speaker B

Speaker B

I've been working at it.

Speaker B

As a side.

Speaker B

I hate to say side hustle, but that's what it is.

Speaker B

It's going to eventually replace my Mickey Mouse job.

Speaker B

Now some people hear Mickey Mouse job, they think that it's a goofy job.

Speaker B
