Welcome to five Minutes with Gray Hair Dave.
Speaker AHe has gray hair and he has a gray beard and he also wears glasses like the guy in the artwork.
Speaker AOh, and the guy in the artwork is better looking.
Speaker ANow, tariff free.
Speaker AHere is Gray Hair Dave.
Speaker BWelcome, welcome, welcome, folks, to another episode, as he said, of five Minutes of Gray Hair Dave.
Speaker BThat's right, it's me Gray Hair day.
Speaker BI got my red sweatshirt on today because it's a little bit chilly here in central Florida.
Speaker BIt's only 69 degrees and guys like me, we don't like 69 degrees.
Speaker BBut anyways, how are you?
Speaker BYes, indeed.
Speaker BIf you like the 11 Labs intro and you want to look at maybe using it for your own podcast or for your own interests or just looking at it and having some fun, there's a link in the show notes and it will be there for you to.
Speaker BClick on that.
Speaker BAnd then if you do sign up, I get a little bit of extra cash for that.
Speaker BSo with that being said, let's get started with what's.
Speaker BWhat's happening today.
Speaker BSo today on the video portion, I'm switching between.
Speaker BMy iPhone camera, which is facing the proper way away from me, right?
Speaker BI'm not looking at the screen, I'm looking at the camera.
Speaker BNow that gives you a better look into my eyes as from down below.
Speaker BAnd it's still got the logos and everything on it.
Speaker BBut we're going to go back to this screen.
Speaker BNo, we're going to stay at that screen.
Speaker BWe want to keep that.
Speaker BWe're just going to go different camera.
Speaker BThere we go.
Speaker BNow, see, it's all kinds of fun here at Gray Hair Productions.
Speaker BYou learn a little thing and then you go on and you try something else.
Speaker BIt's fun and I hope that you're having fun out there with me.
Speaker BSo I wanted to talk to you some more about.
Speaker BAI with Perplexity that I've set some things out on.
Speaker BSo what I want to do is I want to show you two things.
Speaker BLet me pull them while we're talking here.
Speaker BLet me pull them up.
Speaker BNope, that's not it.
Speaker BThat's not it, Dave.
Speaker BLet's pull up Perplexity.
Speaker BOkay, we're going to go to Share Screen and we're going to pull up Perplexity.
Speaker BWell, that ain't it.
Speaker BThat's nowhere near what I wanted you to see.
Speaker BHere it is, Perplexity.
Speaker BOkay, now this is some of the replies that I got from last week.
Speaker BWhat is the.
Speaker BYou know it why this is hard to automate what I had put in.
Speaker BNow What I wanted you to see was that I changed things.
Speaker BDown here.
Speaker BNow what I put in down here is can you search in upwork, Freelancer and other platforms like that for people who are looking for either?
Speaker BPeople are looking for editing either audio or video.
Speaker BUse phrases like I'm looking for an editor.
Speaker BI'm new to podcasting and need help.
Speaker BWhere do I find an editor help?
Speaker BI'm lost and need help with my podcast.
Speaker BAlso include Google alerts, LinkedIn, Reddit, Discord, Substack, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and any other platform you deem appropriate.
Speaker BHave it pull the listings for the last one to five days.
Speaker BAnd list in a spreadsheet format.
Speaker BInclude names, phone, email were found where found and all contacts and and run at 8.
Speaker BWhoops.
Speaker BLearn how to type Dave, 8am daily.
Speaker BAnd.
Speaker BEmail me with results@gray hair productions.com.
Speaker BOkay, now for those of you who are unfortunately not on the video, I just type.
Speaker BFinished typing that in and I just hit enter.
Speaker BSo now it's working on gathering recent online online stuff.
Speaker BThis one search, it says right now it's searching everywhere.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BUpwork, all freelance, probably even fiverr, which I I don't use fiverr much.
Speaker BSo as you can see right in here.
Speaker BIt'S created.
Speaker BLet me increase that s.
Speaker BNot quite that big, huh?
Speaker BIs Comet can do it faster.
Speaker BI've already got to comment, but for some reason I'm on safari still.
Speaker BCreate task.
Speaker BSo now I'm creating it.
Speaker BSearching freelance listings and social medias.
Speaker BIt's doing its thing as it tells you what it's doing as it's doing it.
Speaker BThese are the things that I really find cool because it's telling you what you're doing.
Speaker BNow you can do a lot of this on Grok too, and you can, you really can.
Speaker BBut right now we're doing it on this.
Speaker BAnd look at setting up a daily automation search for new podcast editing leads across multiple platforms, preparing a draft email daily.
Speaker BSo this is exactly what I want it to be doing.
Speaker BNow while we're doing that, we're going to get rid of this.
Speaker BLike this circle.
Speaker BThis circle.
Speaker BI got it for free.
Speaker BI think it was free.
Speaker BIt was.
Speaker BIt's called Pro Mouse.
Speaker BIt is neat as can be.
Speaker BAnd hey, if you want to know how I made my.
Speaker BThe, the writing or I mean, you know, the characters on the page grow and shrink.
Speaker BSo it's command minus or command plus.
Speaker BIt'll make it bigger or smaller for you, whichever way you like it.
Speaker BBut for right now, we're going to go ahead and get Rid of that.
Speaker BWe're going to go back over here to me.
Speaker BHi.
Speaker BSo in case you're a little annoyed with that little guy sitting up here, you know, let me tell you which one I'm talking about.
Speaker BNo, we don't want that.
Speaker BI'm too close now.
Speaker BI moved the phone, which wasn't a cool idea.
Speaker BSo let's go back to this.
Speaker BSo AI has.
Speaker BIt's done its job.
Speaker BIt's done a very good job of looking at what's going on and telling me what's happening.
Speaker BIt's only found a few.
Speaker BDon't get me wrong.
Speaker BI have to keep changing the parameters and I.
Speaker BAnd that's okay.
Speaker BThis is how I'm learning and this is how it learns from what I'm doing.
Speaker BAgain, don't forget, I am on Perplexity Pro so that I could get Perplexity Labs.
Speaker BNow, what I want to do for next week, which I'm going to do here shortly, is I'm going to go to Grok.
Speaker BAnd have Grok do the same thing.
Speaker BThing.
Speaker BLet me see.
Speaker BDid I download Grock?
Speaker BLet me look, folks.
Speaker BGrok.
Speaker BNo, I did not download Grok.
Speaker BWell, that's sad.
Speaker BSo what I'm going to do is I'm going to get Grok all set up on my computer and I'm going to have Grok look it up.
Speaker BI've got it on my iPad, but I don't have it here.
Speaker BBut we're going to go through it, we're going to see what happens, and I'm going to let you know what happens.
Speaker BAnd I'm enjoying this because, first of all, it's technology.
Speaker BAnd who doesn't like technology?
Speaker BI like technology a lot.
Speaker BAs you can tell, we're on a Mac mini M4.
Speaker BI'm on an iPad4 with an M chip, M4 chip.
Speaker BNow I am still on the iPhone 15.
Speaker BIt still works just fine.
Speaker BI think it's working just fine.
Speaker BI. I don't know what you think, but I think it's working just fine.
Speaker BIf you look at this, this is still the.
Speaker BThe camera from the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Speaker BSo I've got better resolution.
Speaker BBut it was working just fine.
Speaker BI don't have a need to get rid of it yet.
Speaker BIt's not slow.
Speaker BThe battery still works great.
Speaker BI'm not worried about it.
Speaker BSo, you know, it's just what it is.
Speaker BI prefer it that way and I prefer.
Speaker BUsing it that way.
Speaker BNow, today I'm also using my emeet camera for the main video, which gives you what it's got here, now these.
Speaker BIf you ever get into.
Speaker BECAMM Live, and ECAMM Live is a lot of fun.
Speaker BThis is what I'm recording it in as ECAMM Live.
Speaker BThere's many, many different ways to do it.
Speaker BLots of people are using Zoom.
Speaker BSome people are using their iPads only and their phones to do all their recording and editing.
Speaker BThere's all kinds of ways to do it, but Gray Hair Dave down here and also five minutes of Gray Hair Dave up here in the corner.
Speaker BThose are just overlays.
Speaker BAnd if you're interested in that, let me know@greyhairproductions.com just go to greyhairproductions.com that's a G R E Y.
Speaker BGo to the contact me page.
Speaker BLeave me a message and I'll.
Speaker BAnd I'll get back to you on how I'm doing all this.
Speaker BI'd be happy to help you get started with ECAMM Live.
Speaker BNow, I'm not as good as some people are nowhere near it.
Speaker BI'm getting a little bit better every day.
Speaker BWe're going to go to Green screen soon, but I don't know when, but soon.
Speaker BI can go in, I can do all this and I can do all that.
Speaker BBut you know, right now, more concerned about getting these content out with you before Christmas.
Speaker BSo.
Speaker BToday is the 7th.
Speaker BIf you're thinking about starting a podcast and want good ideas what kind of equipment to get, go to Gray Hair Productions.
Speaker BAnd on Gray Hair Productions there's a list equipment that I use.
Speaker BYou don't have to have it all.
Speaker BYou can start out with.
Speaker BInexpensive microphone, that's a USB right into your computer and those work just fine.
Speaker BOr you can go like I have here, which is an SM7B.
Speaker BI don't know if you can see that It's a sure SM7B.
Speaker BYeah, I like it.
Speaker BI like it a lot.
Speaker BFor a long time I was using a Samsung Q2U.
Speaker BBoth these, the Samson or this.
Speaker BI'm Sorry, the Shure.
Speaker BSM7B needs an amp, it needs a Pro, it needs a cloud lifter, it needs a preamp.
Speaker BAnd Cloudlifter is the best.
Speaker BSo you're, you're talking 450 bucks to get the Cloud Lifter and the SM7B.
Speaker BNow to get the.
Speaker BSamsung Q2U which is a fantastic mic.
Speaker BIt's around $70.
Speaker BIt can either go into a mixer, an audio interface like I use here, or it can go into a, you know, plug right into your laptop with usb.
Speaker BYou choose.
Speaker BIt's easy just simple as that, you know, and if you've got a, if you got a laptop that's an Apple, you can plug right into GarageBand, or you can plug into Audacity and just start recording.
Speaker BIf you're on a, on a PC, you can use Audacity, you can use any other of the programs that are out there, and there are some good ones out there.
Speaker BAnd in fact, I would suggest that you try.
Speaker BReaper Reapers free for like 60 days.
Speaker BAnd then to buy it, it's.
Speaker BIt's like $60, but try it out, see if you like it, you know, and it's a great way because you have to record into something.
Speaker BYou can't just record into your phone and then transfer it over and hope, like you, hope you get good sound.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BNow there's lots of people out there doing this who are using.
Speaker BLav mics.
Speaker BSo I've got lav mics like this.
Speaker BThat will connect right into my phone.
Speaker BAnd it gives me great quality, it gives me good sound.
Speaker BBut that's not the way I choose to do it.
Speaker BNow, if I'm out and about with this right here, then I will plug that into here and I'll use a lav mic for that.
Speaker BYou know, if I'm out getting B roll, which is background, you know, background stuff with this, that's what I'll use.
Speaker BNow if I'm using my camera, I got a regular camera.
Speaker BI will use a shotgun mic that's attached to it.
Speaker BBut normally even the audio on your phone is fine, don't get me wrong.
Speaker BBut you want a little bit better quality than that, I think.
Speaker BI think you deserve a little bit better quality than I than that to start out with.
Speaker BIf you're going to record.
Speaker BNotice right now I'm in a bedroom.
Speaker BBehind me is a bed with lots of linen on it.
Speaker BIt's got a big thick quilt on it or comforter on it.
Speaker BThere's carpet on the floor.
Speaker BThere's not a lot on the walls, but you want something where the room, the voices aren't going to bounce off the.
Speaker BThe wall right back into your microphone.
Speaker BYou know, that's just.
Speaker BThat's sound design.
Speaker BIt's helping with sound design.
Speaker BIt's helping with your editing and everything else.
Speaker BSo that's enough of the lesson for today on how to podcast.
Speaker BBut if you're interested in something like that, I do want you to go back to.
Speaker BGray Hair Productions.
Speaker BLeave me a message, and I'd be happy to help you.
Speaker BWe'll talk about it.
Speaker BI do charge a fee for some things.
Speaker BFor most things.
Speaker BSo I'll be honest with you.
Speaker BI'm in this as a business, and I would want you to be, too.
Speaker BBut let's talk first.
Speaker BI'll get you a few things going on.

Speaker BSo excuse me.
Speaker BIf you know somebody who doesn't know what a podcast is, doesn't know where to find one, doesn't know what genres there are, do me a favor, will you show them for me?
Speaker BTake them by the hand.
Speaker BGet their phone out.
Speaker BGet this phone out and show them.
Speaker BSee how it's got there.
Speaker BThe camera's on.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BSo I'm going to disconnect that.
Speaker BOkay, Disconnect.
Speaker BAnd then I'm going to go like that and I'm going to go.
Speaker BStick with me here.
Speaker BThis is for the viewing audience.
Speaker BGo to.
Speaker BPodcasts on your phone, right, and show them where it is.
Speaker BShow them what the genres are.

Speaker BFive minutes of gray Hair Dave.
Speaker BHappy to have you do that.
Speaker BShow them how to subscribe, show them how to follow, how to find other types of them.
Speaker BYou know, some people might be into the mystery, Some people might be into the dramas, some might be into news, politics, sports, whatever.
Speaker BYou don't know what's out there until you try.
Speaker BAlso, folks, excuse me, on a final note, don't leave yet.

Speaker BIt's just natural.
Speaker BEverybody's rushing to get things done.
Speaker BEverybody wants everything that they want.
Speaker BThey want to.
Speaker BAnd they're in on a time crunch.
Speaker BSo don't be a jerk.
Speaker BBe nice to people.
Speaker BSomebody's rushing around, you let them go by, right?
Speaker BBe that human being that says, it's okay.
Speaker BGo ahead.
Speaker BI'm all right.
Speaker BSay hi to them, make their day.
Speaker BTake it easy.
Speaker BHey, Merry Christmas or apionica or whatever.
Speaker BWhatever you're.
Speaker BWhatever you're going to say.
Speaker BBut just don't go out there and be a bad person just the wrong holiday.
Speaker BAnd take it from guys like me who wear red sweatshirts with a big white beard.
Speaker BSanta says, be nice.
Speaker BSo on behalf of Gray Hair Dave in a Santa suit, which is not really a Santa suit, you all have a great day, and I will be talking to you very, very soon.
