The paramount focus of this episode revolves around the intricacies of motivation and the challenges associated with maintaining it amidst various life demands. I have encountered a notable stagnation in my personal projects, particularly the Grey Hair Dave project, which has prompted a profound reflection on the factors contributing to my diminishing drive. I postulate that this decline in motivation may be attributed to a duality of fear: the fear of success and the absence of external accountability. To combat this inertia, I am contemplating the utilization of artificial intelligence as a potential catalyst for regaining my momentum, thereby allowing me to remain steadfast in my endeavors. Additionally, I discuss the prospect of introducing guests into the podcast, inviting feedback from our audience regarding their interest in such a format, while also highlighting our expanding global listener base. In this installment, Grey Hair Dave embarks on a profound exploration of motivation, articulating his current struggles with project inertia and the psychological factors contributing to his lack of progress. He openly shares his feelings of frustration and confusion regarding the stall in his endeavors, revealing that this situation has been exacerbated by an underlying fear of success. This candid admission serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities surrounding motivation, prompting listeners to reflect on their own experiences with similar challenges. The speaker further emphasizes the importance of accountability in overcoming motivational hurdles, noting the absence of a support system to encourage consistent progress. In an intriguing proposal, Grey Hair Dave suggests leveraging artificial intelligence as a tool to foster his accountability. He illustrates this concept with a practical example, recounting his success with Claude AI, which adeptly generated a detailed spreadsheet of potential clients for his initiative. This narrative not only highlights the potential for technology to assist in personal growth but also encourages listeners to consider how they might integrate similar strategies into their own lives to bolster their motivation and productivity. Additionally, the episode touches upon the evolving nature of the podcast itself, particularly the possibility of incorporating guest appearances. Gray Hair Dave reflects on the increasing global interest in his show and the implications this has for future content direction. He weighs the benefits and challenges associated with inviting guests, all while remaining true to his authentic voice. The discussion serves to engage listeners in a broader dialogue about the nature of podcasting and the importance of adaptability in creative endeavors.

Speaker A

Welcome to five Minutes with Gray Hair Dave.

Speaker A

He has gray hair and he has a gray beard and he also wears glasses like the guy in the artwork.

Speaker A

Oh, and the guy in the artwork is better looking now, tariff free.

Speaker A

Here is Gray Hair Dave.

Speaker B

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker B

That was 11.

Speaker B

Laughs 11 labs.

Speaker B

I. Oh, that's spelled with an E, L, E, V, E, N, L, A, B, S, not two ones.

Speaker B

Labs.

Speaker B

How are you today, folks?

Speaker B

Hope you're doing well, Dave.

Speaker B

Dave took last week off for circumstances that were beyond his control.

Speaker B

I apologize.

Speaker B

But I'm back now.

Speaker B

Hopefully things will stay on track again.

Speaker B

Let's see, what are we going to talk about today?

Speaker B

Well, there's a couple things on my mind.

Speaker B

One is I mentioned this last time we talked.

Speaker B

One is motivation.

Speaker B

What motivation means to me isn't working.

Speaker B

Gray Hair Dave.

Speaker B

Project is stalled because I've stalled and I don't know why.

Speaker B

I really, I can't tell you why.

Speaker B

And it bothers, bothers me a lot that I let it sit there and that I only want to work on it when I'm supposed to be at my other job, the one where Mickey Mouse is in charge.

Speaker B

I don't know why this is.

Speaker B

If you can explain it to me, please go to my website, five Minutes with Gray Hair Dave and leave me a message.

Speaker B

But anyway, my motivation has.

Speaker B

Has waned.

Speaker B

And I think part of that is.

Speaker B

Is twofold again.

Speaker B

I think part of it is fear of success and I don't want to be fearful of success.

Speaker B

So I'm recommitting and I'm going to hold myself more accountable and I hope that I can follow through with this.

Speaker B

I really, really do.

Speaker B

I think the other part of it is there's nobody out there pushing and pushing me is probably not the right way to look at this.

Speaker B

But there's nobody else holding me accountable, saying, have you done this today?

Speaker B

Did you do that today?

Speaker B

How is it going with that new thing you are trying, Dave?

Speaker B

Have you reached out to anybody yet?

Speaker B

I need to find a way and I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to use AI to help me do that.

Speaker B

Now you say, how can you make AI help you do that?

Speaker B

I don't know, but I am going.

Speaker B

Here's what I was thinking.

Speaker B

This last week I was playing around with Claude AI A. Claude AI is more for coding, as far as I can tell.

Speaker B

And it'll build things because I asked Claude AI to go in and build me something that I already had.

Speaker B

I asked it to build me a.

Speaker B

A Spreadsheet of potential clients for the new Gray Haired Dave experiment.

Speaker B

And within about a minute and a half, it produced this very pretty and very, very detailed spreadsheet.

Speaker B

It was, you know, she, it put it in an Excel format, it had the name of the place, it had the email of the place, it had the website, it had a phone number and a contact person when a contact person was available.

Speaker B

So I mean, that was.

Speaker B

And that, like I said, took about a minute and a half for it to collect everything and then make it.

Speaker B

So what I think I'm going to do is I'm going to try and go to Claude today and ask it to create something to help me stay on track, to help keep me motivated on my days off and even on the days that I work at Disney.

Speaker B

So there's that.

Speaker B

So that's, that's the motivation I was talking about.

Speaker B

There's nobody I live with that can do this for me besides me.

Speaker B

I'm not married.

Speaker B

I don't have a girlfriend right now.

Speaker B

So, you know, it's kind of hard to say to a friend, hey, keep me motivated.

Speaker B

It's hard to do.

Speaker B

So I'm gonna see if what Claude can do for me, maybe it'll build me an app.

Speaker B

I'll let you know next week.

Speaker B

I'm gonna start on it here after I'm done editing this.

Speaker B

So next thing I wanted to talk about was guests.

Speaker B

Now, I have never had a guest on this, this show, this podcast has always been Dave just talking.

Speaker B

You know, it's, it's Gray Hair Dave just being Dave and doing whatever he wants to do and talking about whatever he wants to talk about.

Speaker B

And more and more of you are listening, especially across the world, which impresses me all to, to heaven.

Speaker B

I mean, it's just, it's phenomenal the amount of people who are downloading the show.

Speaker B

Now, some of them may be bots, maybe not, I don't know.

Speaker B

But as of today, I am getting downloads from Australia, India, I'm getting Australia's he downloads from Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Finland, the uk, Canada, Chile, Argentina.

Speaker B

Brazil.

Speaker B

And let's see, is there anybody else I forgot here?

Speaker B

Chile.

Speaker B

Oh, oh, yeah.

Speaker B

And.

Speaker B

And Turkish Turkey.

Speaker B

T, U, R, K I, Y E. I spelled Turkey.

Speaker B

We would call it Turkey.

Speaker B

It's Turkey.

Speaker B

It's however they say it.

Speaker B

But I'm just saying I'm getting out there about out and around the world.

Speaker B

So I'm happy about that.

Speaker B

But I've never had a guest.

Speaker B

Now I've had a few guests.

Speaker B

I forgot to Turn my phone to the silent.

Speaker B

Sorry about that.

Speaker B

So anyways, I've never had a guest.

Speaker B

I've had three or four people who have approached me, usually for somebody else.

Speaker B

So I had this.

Speaker B

This guy approached me twice about his.

Speaker B

His client.

Speaker B

And his client has something to do with podcasting, so at least he knows what it is.

Speaker B

So I tried reaching out to him yesterday to let them know that I'd be interested in talking with them about maybe being a guest.

Speaker B

Well, it kept coming back to me as a invalid email when I tried to send them an email, which is how they contacted me through my email.

Speaker B

So if you're going to contact somebody about wanting to be a guest or your client wanting to be a guest on their show, make sure you're giving them or you're sending it from a real email address.

Speaker B

Now, I looked this guy up who was one, who this guy was working for and wanted to be on my show supposedly.

Speaker B

And it's real.

Speaker B

I mean, it's interesting.

Speaker B

But, you know, if you're a person that you're having to do this, your publicist, your, you know, your assistant, your va, whatever, have them use a real email address that I could email back to.

Speaker B

It's.

Speaker B

Otherwise, it's always going to be a no.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

And I don't know if, if having guests on here is something you want, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker B

I mean, it would extend the show, which would mean I'd probably have to take an interview, break it up into two or three different podcasts.

Speaker B

I'm not sure if that's what that person would like or not.

Speaker B

My show, I get to do it my way, but I also don't want to upset you folks.

Speaker B

So if you'd like to hear from other people, I'd like.

Speaker B

I'd like to know, please go ahead, let me know at five minutes with Gray Hair Dave.

Speaker B

That's the number.

Speaker B

Five minutes with Gray hairedave dot com.

Speaker B

Leave me a message in the contact me page or go to the little voicemail.

Speaker B

Leave me a, you know, the little microphone.

Speaker B

Leave me a voicemail.

Speaker B

I'll be happy to hear from you.

Speaker B

And if you do say something or leave me a message and you want me to talk about it on air, I will.

Speaker B

Now, I say on air.

Speaker B

That's old radio talk, and I apologize for that.

Speaker B

But, you know, basically that's we're on air, we're not live.

Speaker B

I've been consider.

Speaker B

I've talked about live before, if you remember, and I don't know if I want to go live.

Speaker B

Yet, but I'm considering it, I really am.

Speaker B

So, just some things to think about there, you know.

Speaker B

Just some things to think about.

Speaker B

Hey, are you.

Speaker B

Are you thinking about maybe starting a podcast?

Speaker B

There's lots of things I'm sure you want to talk about.

Speaker B

Do you know somebody who wants to start a podcast?

Speaker B

Thinking maybe, yeah.

Speaker B

Send me an email at 5 minutes with gray hair Dave or at Dave at Gray Hair Productions, and I will send you a free PDF on how to start a podcast.

Speaker B

Gray Hair Productions helps people do that.

Speaker B

That's what we're in business to do, is help you start your podcast, help edit your podcast for you or your video if that's the way you're going now.

Speaker B

Many, many people are believe today that a podcast has to be video.

Speaker B

Myself and many, many other podcasters are here to tell you your podcast does not have to be video.

Speaker B

It can be just audio.

Speaker B

In the beginning, it was mainly audio.

Speaker B

Purists believe RSS is only audio.

Speaker B

Video podcasts are what you call YouTube videos.

Speaker B

I don't want to get into that.

Speaker B

It's just I'm a believer in audio first, but I also believe in video.

Speaker B

Now with these new, new things coming out through Apple, where they're going to start using or promoting and showing video on podcast, if you have one, using a process called hls that could help my business.

Speaker B

So I'm going to be for it.

Speaker B

Okay?

Speaker B

So if it's something you're interested in, please contact me again.

Speaker B

That's either@daveirayhairproductions.com or, or 5 minutes with gray hair Dave and leave me a contact.

Speaker B

Leave me a message in the contact me page.

Speaker B

Also, folks, if you know somebody who doesn't know what a podcast is, doesn't know where to find them, doesn't know the genres that are available, do me a favor, go ahead and show them for me.

Speaker B

Grab their phone, show them on their phone.

Speaker B

Use five minutes of Gray Hair Dave as the example.

Speaker B

Show them how to follow, subscribe, whatever you want to do, I'd appreciate it.

Speaker B

So do all the other podcasters that are out there.

Speaker B

Next thing, if you're out and about in today's world, just out and about anywhere, going to the grocery store, going to the drugstore, wherever you're going, smile at somebody, say hi, be nice to that person behind the register.

Speaker B

You're going to make their day.

Speaker B

And they in turn will turn around and make yours.

Speaker B

You'd be surprised how much a smile does to change in attitude.

Speaker B

So on behalf of everybody here at Gray Hair Productions, Please stay safe out there.

Speaker B

And I look forward to talking to you again next week.

Speaker B

Bye.

Speaker B

Bye.
