Speaker B

Yep, still here.

Speaker B

How you doing?

Speaker B

Hope you're all doing well.

Speaker B

Just a few quick things to talk about today.

Speaker B

Don't know where the voice went.

Speaker B

It was here a while ago, so it's.

Speaker B

It's around.

Speaker B

But we'll play with it in post and get it back.

Speaker B

We are doing video today, so there's that.

Speaker B

Excuse me, I'm gonna take a little drink.

Speaker B

Maybe that'll help my voice.

Speaker B

Yeah, probably not.

Speaker B

But anyway, we are doing video today, so I just wanted you to know about that.

Speaker B

Let's see what's going on in the world.

Speaker B

How about this?

Speaker B

Let's start with what's going on in my world.

Speaker B

Well, if you have been paying attention, you will notice that I've trimmed my beard about 2 inches.

Speaker B

Came off all the way around.

Speaker B

Now, I didn't trim anything off the mustache because the mustache, I always keep that trimmed.

Speaker B

I don't like having hair in my food when I eat.

Speaker B

So, you know, I.

Speaker B

But I did.

Speaker B

I. I was.

Speaker B

I looked at it when I got up and I go, man, you just look like a homeless bum.

Speaker B

And I couldn't take that anymore.

Speaker B

So hopefully it'll start growing in fuller again, which is what I wanted to do.

Speaker B

Also, folks probably due for a haircut, but who knows?

Speaker B

Now, on the.

Speaker B

On the foot issue, as you all remember, I had surgery back in January on my foot to repair a tendon and a ligament.

Speaker B

Well, that's going along just fine, but there's still more pain there than the doctor likes.

Speaker B

So she's changed my restrictions to put them on a more permanent basis now.

Speaker B

Don't know what Disney's gonna do with that yet, but we're gonna find out here shortly.

Speaker B

Hopefully I can find a place to go where I can enjoy myself until I decide to retire.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

I'm hoping, okay, because I don't want to work someplace I don't want to work.

Speaker B

But I know that I can't go back to Skyliner where I was.

Speaker B

It would be just Too uncomfortable.

Speaker B

By the end of the day, I'd be miserable.

Speaker B

And nobody, nobody really wants to work that way.

Speaker B

Now, I know that I don't.

Speaker B

So that's what's going on on that front.

Speaker B

What else is going on?

Speaker B

Let's see.

Speaker B

Well, we're going to change subjects now.

Speaker B

We're going to get off gray hair Dave, and we're going to go to politics.

Speaker B

You ought to like this.

Speaker B

So the US Government is back open, right?

Speaker B

And I think that you all know that's a good thing.

Speaker B

Now government agencies can start working again and people can get back to work.

Speaker B

Air traffic control is starting to get back closer to normal.

Speaker B

So hopefully by the end of the weekend, things will be better.

Speaker B

Because next week for, for the U.S. as you all know, is Thanksgiving.

Speaker B

And it's a big travel week.

Speaker B

It's a very, very big travel week.

Speaker B

Now, I personally think that the numbers at Disney, where I work, and even, I'm sure Universal for the last couple of weeks have been down because of air traffic control issues and flight cancellations and all those kinds of things.

Speaker B

I can't say because I don't.

Speaker B

I'm not privy to all that information, but I'm pretty positive they've been down.

Speaker B

Now, how much I don't know.

Speaker B

But, you know, they're there.

Speaker B

But thank God those guys got off their duffs and did it.

Speaker B

Now, I'm not here to talk to you about one side or the other.

Speaker B

I'm just glad both sides decided it's over.

Speaker B

This has to stop.

Speaker B

We are now hurting America.

Speaker B

You know what else?

Speaker B

We were becoming the joke of the world.

Speaker B

We really are.

Speaker B

Because a lot of this had to do with the fact that Donald Trump was elected president.

Speaker B

And some people get hurt feelings over that because they don't like him.

Speaker B

Okay, does that mean we shut the government down and, and not pay government employees and not pay, you know, air traffic controllers or give out SNAP benefits, which a lot of people really, really need it.

Speaker B

Just because you can get SNAP benefits doesn't mean you don't deserve them.

Speaker B

Now, I'm sure there are some people out there on SNAP benefits who don't deserve them, who are gaming the system.

Speaker B

That's everywhere.

Speaker B

You're going to find a little bit of that everywhere.

Speaker B

But I don't look at life that way anymore.

Speaker B

I don't.

Speaker B

I can't.

Speaker B

I can't be that cynical all the time.

Speaker B

It's exhausting.

Speaker B

You know, just like talking about politics all the time is exhausting.

Speaker B

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker B

Can't do it.

Speaker B

Can't do it.

Speaker B

Can't do it.

Speaker B

So that's enough of politics, don't you think?

Speaker B

I do.

Speaker B

What else is going on?

Speaker B

Well, my big brother's coming down to visit isn't his daughter in a week or so and get to see him again.

Speaker B

I'm happy to see him.

Speaker B

He is getting out and about in the world and he's.

Speaker B

He's more the homebody of the three of us.

Speaker B

He's.

Speaker B

He's the poet.

Speaker B

Okay, One's a poet, one's like.

Speaker B

One's the accountant.

Speaker B

And then there's me, who nobody really knows what I am, but I am what I am and I is what he is.

Speaker B

And that's just the way it is.

Speaker B

I had numerous jobs in my life.

Speaker B

I am the wanderer, I guess you could say.

Speaker B

I am also the guy who does not mind being up in front of people, talking, doesn't mind being in front of audiences, being behind a microphone.

Speaker B

There's lots of careers I probably should have looked into when I was younger and didn't have the courage to do it because I was afraid to fail.

Speaker B

Doesn't matter if I fail now, if I fail now, I just start over with something else, right?

Speaker B

That is absolutely fine in my mind.

Speaker B

But I'm not looking to fail.

Speaker B

Okay, I am not looking to fail.

Speaker B

But podcasting is something that I have.

Speaker B

Have learned to enjoy and learned to love.

Speaker B

And it wasn't hard.

Speaker B

I fell in love with it almost immediately.

Speaker B

Now, speaking of podcasting, do you have a podcast?

Speaker B

If you do, fantastic.

Speaker B

Do you edit your own podcast?

Speaker B

If you do, great.

Speaker B

Would you love some of that time back in your life?

Speaker B

I can do that for you at Gray Hair Productions dot com.

Speaker B

That's what I do.

Speaker B

I'm an audio and video editor.

Speaker B

Speaker B

Speaker B

Speaker B

Speaker B

And the videos are coming.

Speaker B

I know I keep saying that, but they're coming.

Speaker B

Where?

Speaker B

I'm going to go into depth, but there's lots of people out there putting those out right now.

Speaker B

I don't need to worry about that.

Speaker B

I need to get you going, need to get you motivated to do that.

Speaker B

Motivation.

Speaker B

That's hard when you live alone.

Speaker B

It is.

Speaker B

You have to self.

Speaker B

Motivation is not always an easy thing.

Speaker B

And we all Know that.

Speaker B

Speaker B

It doesn't matter.

Speaker B

Could be talking about golf.

Speaker B

There is a huge podcast out there all about trains.

Speaker B

Yeah, model trains.

Speaker B

Doesn't matter what genre you're in, it's.

Speaker B

Well, worry about that.

Speaker B

Once you decide to do it, biggest thing is do it.

Speaker B

Yes, you're going to say, but Dave, there's over 4 million podcasts out there.

Speaker B

Yeah, I've got four of them now.

Speaker B

Three of the four aren't producing right now, actually, I've got five.

Speaker B

There's my journey online.

Speaker B

Memories from the Mouse poetry of Christian faith, which was originally living in God's rhyme.

Speaker B

Number four is Boomer Podcasters.

Speaker B

And number five, of course, is this what you're listening to, Five Newtons with Gray Hair, Dave.

Speaker B

Speaker B

Now, if you're thinking that podcasting is going to be here to make you rich, you are living in a fantasy world.

Speaker B

I'm just telling you that now.
