Welcome to five Minutes with Grey Hair Dave.
Speaker AHe has grey hair, he has a grey beard and he wears glasses like the guy in the artwork.
Speaker AOh, and the guy in the artwork is better looking.
Speaker ANow here is gray haired Dave.
Speaker BWell, folks, how are you today?
Speaker BWelcome back.
Speaker BI'm back.
Speaker BI'm ready to attack.
Speaker BOh, yeah.
Speaker BI tell you, last week was a crazy kind of a week between work and physical therapy and all the craziness that goes along with that, I didn't record last week and I apologize for that.
Speaker BSo I'm gonna try and do two this week if I can get it in just to kind of make up for where we were at.
Speaker BSo here's what's going on.
Speaker BHere's what's going on on my, on my side of things, in case you're interested.
Speaker BI'm doing physical therapy three times a week.
Speaker BI go back to my doctor on the 3rd of June and we see what's going on and my progression is going.
Speaker BHad three right in a row last week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday for physical therapy and oh boy, I hurt bad until yesterday and then I went for physical therapy.
Speaker BNow I hurt again.
Speaker BGonna run out of pain pills before I go back.
Speaker BBut anyways, that's, that's neither here nor there.
Speaker BIt's, I think it's helping.
Speaker BBut also being back to work helps a little bit.
Speaker BYou know, I mentioned before I wasn't excited to go back.
Speaker BI really wasn't until I got there.
Speaker BAnd then I'm happy to be there.
Speaker BI really am.
Speaker BYou know, it's a joy.
Speaker BAnd I get to see people again, be around people again, be and conversation with people.
Speaker BAnd I think that that's a great thing.
Speaker BIt's making me feel better.
Speaker BSo yay for that.
Speaker BMy doctor was right.
Speaker BAnd I hope you're listening to your doctor if you're going to one.
Speaker BSo speaking of doctors, let's change subjects for a minute and let's go to politics just for a couple of minutes.
Speaker BI, I watch and I, I listen to, I watch the television for the news, you know, now.
Speaker BAnd I, you know, I'll listen to some podcasts on, on politics.
Speaker BThere's a couple that I listen to, but I heard this one yesterday or the day before where now former President Biden has prostate cancer.
Speaker BAnd now I don't know if this is true or not.
Speaker BAnd I'm not here to say he is does or doesn't.
Speaker BI am here to say that if he does, it doesn't explain, it doesn't explain the way he's been acting the last few years.
Speaker BThat's nothing to do with.
Speaker BReally does not.
Speaker BI had the same kind.
Speaker BI had prostate cancer.
Speaker BI'm a survivor, and I know what he's going through.
Speaker BBut I also know that I did not have any cognitive decline, any balance issues or, or things such as that.
Speaker BNow, that's all I'm saying about President Biden, about the man himself.
Speaker BExcept for this.
Speaker BWith the new technologies and with the new medications that are out there, he can live a very long life after this.
Speaker BHe can be treated in multiple ways, I'm sure, and, and go on with life just as normal, depending upon which, you know, which way he decides to go or he and his family decide to go treatment wise.
Speaker BNow, if it were myself at his age, probably just have it removed.
Speaker BYou know, it beats going through all the therapies and the back and forth to the hospital.
Speaker BBut, you know, that's a personal thing.
Speaker BIt really, really is.
Speaker BAnd one of the reasons that I wanted to bring this up today, especially, I listened to.
Speaker BI listened to a lot of podcasts and I listened to this one about.
Speaker BOr not about, but who.
Speaker BI listened to this one where they were interviewing a TV star from Baywatch.
Speaker BAnd it was brought up that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, and she's a single mom of two.
Speaker BAnd she said the same thing that happened to me when I was diagnosed or when I was told that I have cancer.
Speaker BThe minute they tell you you have cancer, you stop listening.
Speaker BYou don't hear anything anymore.
Speaker BYou just.
Speaker BIt's just like this hum in your head, going, blocking everything out.
Speaker BYou don't want to hear no more.
Speaker BYou can't hear anymore at that point in time.
Speaker BAnd I find that, that, that's amazing because it's.
Speaker BIt's nice to know that I am not the only one that that has happened to.
Speaker BWhich is why if there's a chance that you have cancer and you are going for tests or test results, it's important you take somebody with you.
Speaker BEven if that is just a friend or a co worker, you need to really take somebody with you so that they can get the rest of the information.
Speaker BI mean, it's, it's.
Speaker BAnd that's not forever.
Speaker BNot everybody reacts the way that this lady does or that I do.
Speaker BBut the majority of people that I have talked to, yeah, as soon as they say your tests are positive, you do have cancer, you're done, your day is over with.
Speaker BYou are.
Speaker BYou're devastated and you think you're gonna die.
Speaker BBut with today's technologies and all the advancements they've made, there's a very good chance you're not going to die from cancer right away.
Speaker BDepends on what you have.
Speaker BYou know, if you have lung cancer, your chances of dying are a little greater.
Speaker BBut they've.
Speaker BThe treatments they've come up with, even in that, have just been phenomenal on the advancements that they've made.
Speaker BSo, Joe, get back to Joe Biden.
Speaker BBeen there, done that, buddy.
Speaker BYou can do it, too.
Speaker BAnd if this actor can do it, so can you.
Speaker BYou have to get through, and you will.
Speaker BAnd you have a support system of a wife and family, so you'll be just fine.
Speaker BAnd.
Speaker BAnd that's very, very important, I believe, because of my situation.
Speaker BI was.
Speaker BI was living with my last girlfriend when I.
Speaker BI found out I had cancer, and she was there to help me through it.
Speaker BAnd I.
Speaker BTo this day, I'm very, very grateful for that.
Speaker BBut I talked to my family more because I'm so far away from them.
Speaker BOne of my brothers had the same thing I did, and I didn't know it till later, years later, he didn't.
Speaker BHe told his family, but I didn't need to know.
Speaker BSo I don't know where we are with that.
Speaker BI mean, I.
Speaker BI became a little closer with those guys, both of my brothers, because, you know, you drift away with time.
Speaker BYou also drift away because of location, where you are.
Speaker BI'm in Florida.
Speaker BThey're in Michigan.
Speaker BI don't travel up there very.
Speaker BI don't travel up there at all.
Speaker BThey may come down here, but I don't go up there.
Speaker BIt's.
Speaker BI left for a reason.
Speaker BIs.
Speaker BIt gets cold up there now I should go back and see people.
Speaker BBut I've been gone for 19 years, folks.
Speaker BYeah, I've been down in Florida 19 years.
Speaker BThat's hard to believe.
Speaker BSo if you have a support system, even if it's over the phone or over zoom, take advantage of it.
Speaker BYou're gonna need it.
Speaker BOkay, so now that we're.
Speaker BLet's change subjects to something a little happier.
Speaker BDogs.
Speaker BDogs are happy, aren't they?
Speaker BI met a dog yesterday, and he's visiting for a day or so because my roommate, she.
Speaker BShe'll take in.
Speaker BShe'll babysit dogs for once in a while.
Speaker BAnd his parents named this dog Astro.
Speaker BLike from the Jetsons.
Speaker BI am.
Speaker BI find that the names that people are giving their dogs lately amaze me.
Speaker BI mean, there's a lot of.
Speaker BThere's a lot of dogs in the neighborhood.
Speaker BAnd when you're out and about, you run into people walking their dogs or outside playing with their dogs.
Speaker BJust the names.
Speaker BThere was another one visiting the other day, name is Bailey.
Speaker BYou know, okay, why not?
Speaker BYeah, you get the Lulus and all the other kinds, but I found Astro to be quite entertaining because, you know, it's from the Jetsons.
Speaker BYou know, it's.
Speaker BI loved it.
Speaker BIt was.
Speaker BIt's great.
Speaker BEvery time I think of that name, I chuckle.
Speaker BAnd that's just me, folks.
Speaker BSo anyway, here we go.
